The State Security Court at the UAE Federal Supreme Court on Monday sentenced K.A.H.T., a 21-year-old Emirati, to 10 years in jail on the charges of joining Daesh and other terrorist organisations in Syria.
The convict had already served one year in jail before the State Security Prosecution appealed the previous verdict.
The prosecution had accused him of joining the terrorist group Daesh and travelling to Syria to get trained in their camps and fight with them. He was also accused of defending the terrorist group’s ideologies, and promoting them on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
