A seventh grade Dubai student, Riva Tulpule has collected and recycled more than 600kgs of electronic waste during this Ramadan. She was inspired to start the initiative after noticing more than 5 unused mobiles in her mother’s drawer. The campaign, called ‘We care’ started small but grew quickly thanks to a video message posted on Facebook which went viral in Dubai, Ajman and Fujairah
Enviroserve, a Dubai based e-recycling company handled the recycling. Riva was also praised by Dubai Municipality Waste Management Department for her move. She plans to continue this initiative even after ramadan and raise awareness.
