The Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has announced a positive case of the Mers Coronavirus (Mers-CoV). The case is “receiving the medical care required”, the authority said.

The HAAD has confirmed that it is coordinating with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and other relevant governmental entities, and has taken all necessary measures as per standards and recommendations by the World Health Organisation.

To help prevent respiratory illnesses, the MoHAP has advised the public to wash hands often with soap and water, use hand sanitiser if the former is not readily accessible, cover the nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and throw the tissue into a rubbish receptacle.
