A 40 year old man was jailed when he forged a marriage certificate to get a visa for his wife. He was arrested at Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai on July 12 last year when he tried to resume procedures for his wife’s visa. The Sri Lankan, a private company employee apparently paid a man in his home country to have the certificate notarized before delivering it to him in person in Dubai.
He also said he was only made aware that the certificate had been altered after being informed by a ministry employee. The man was sentenced to three months in jail followed by deportation.
