A 32-year-old housemaid faced a theft charge on Thursday for allegedly stealing, with the help of a countryman, large sums of money and gold from a family.
The Bangladeshi housemaid was at the Pakistani family’s house when she stole 85,000SR and $5,000 and Dh140,220 worth of gold jewellery.
A Bangladeshi vegetable and fruit vendor, aged 46, is also charged in the Court of First Instance with helping her in the theft.
Both accused were caught on April 5. She confessed to the police when confronted by the complainant and claimed the vendor helped her. Part of the stolen jewellery was found with her.
