A housemaid, working for a cleaning services office, was caught when allegedly trying to sell a gold ring, which she had stolen from a house, a court was told on Monday.

The Court of First Instance heard the Filipina maid, 33, stole a gold ring worth Dh8,000 from a woman whose house she was cleaning, and then tried to sell it at a jewellery shop.

The accused admitted during investigation that while she was once hired at the complainant’s house from where she stole a ring and kept it. She decided to sell it at the Gold Souq in Naif. But was then apprehended at the shop.
