The Sharjah Civil Defence Department on Wednesday launched a safety awareness system initiative for visually impaired people through Braille, to inform them about various types of risks.
The initiative is first of its kind in the country, aimed at ensuring the safety of people with vision impairment. The Sharjah Civil Defence has designed the safety awareness materials in Braille – the system of raised dots that can be read using the fingertips – to allow visually impaired people be aware of safety and protection procedures.
Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, Deputy Director of the Sharjah Civil Defence, said that they prepared material using Braille to allow the visually disabled to learn safety tips .
