Number of riders who used taxi service in Dubai in the first quarter of 2017 has reached 44.88 million individuals, who were served in 25.79 million trips, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Thursday.

Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, said: “Lifting 44,883,737 riders during the first quarter of this year is indicative of the huge demand for the service. It is the result of improvements that we regularly introduce to taxis such as the offering of multiple means of fare payment.

The RTA said this year from January to March, 25,795,251 trips were done by taxi franchise companies which have 10,038 vehicles.
