A vehicle inspection technician went on trial for allegedly taking a Dh9,000 bribe from a car dealer for passing a vehicle that was written off the road after an accident.

The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance on Thursday heard that the Filipino was caught after forging a ‘pass’ result for the vehicle that belonged to a Syrian man in return for a cash bribe.

The Syrian car dealer allegedly wanted a pass result for his vehicle so he could have it re-registered by the traffic and licensing department in Abu Dhabi.
